To reduce confusion, in these instances the converted fractional order
is rounded to 4 decimal places. Such prices are marked with a "#"
symbol.

The time of the most recent match
on Island, expressed in 24-hour format based on U.S. Eastern time.

Today’s
Activity - Orders
The cumulative number of visible
orders entered so far today. This number does not include hidden orders or
immediate-or-cancel orders.

Activity - Volume
The total number of shares
matched today on Island's book. This volume counts each change of beneficial ownership
once. For example, if participant "A" sells 100 shares to participant
"B" on Island, Todays' Volume will increase by 100 shares.*

Buy
and Sell Orders
Displays up to the first 15
individual buy and sell orders currently visible, open and available for instant matching.
Buy orders are on the left, sell orders are on the right. Orders are listed according to
price and time priority so orders higher on the list will be executed before orders lower
in the list. Hidden orders are not displayed.
The background colors help to visually group together equally priced orders at first four
price levels.

Shares
For each order, this column shows
the number of shares that are currently available for an instant match. The shares
displayed could be less than the original number of shares entered if the order was
partially executed or partially cancelled.

Price
This column displays each order's limit price.

Connection
Status
Shows the state of the
BookViewer's connection. (The HTML version will always show "as of" since it
does not create new connections).
Possible values include:
Connecting - The applet is trying to make a new connection to
the BookViewer server over the internet. You'll see this every time you request a new
stock. The applet may take a second to connect, depending on the speed of your Internet
connection.
Connected - The applet has successfully connected to the server
and is waiting for the first packet of data to arrive.
Connection Lost - The applet's connection to the server was
unexpectedly terminated. Check your internet connection and request the stock again.
Unknown Stock - The requested stock was not found on Island.
This could indicated that you requested an invalid stock symbol, or that there have not
been any orders entered into Island yet today for that stock. Check the stock symbol and
try again.
As of - A time stamp that indicates the timeliness of the
displayed data. In the Java version, this timestamp should update each time the displayed
data changes or about once every 15 seconds if the displayed data is not changing. The
time stamp is expressed in 24-hour format based on U.S. Eastern Time.
The Island BookViewer is a
